Nonsense Robot: A 24-Minute Comic
I once attempted the grand challenge of the Twenty-Four Hour Comic. A full day of non-stop comic-creating, one hour per page, no stopping, no going back. The point, as I understand it, is supposed to be to cut through the procrastination and force yourself to Get A Comic Done. It took about five hours for my creative passion to dry up, whereupon I concluded that my comic was going to be incredibly bad, and there was no point in carrying on for another nineteen hours if I knew I’d be unhappy with the result.
But recently, I have been introduced to the concept of the twenty-four minute comic. This one-minute-per-panel sprint approach is frantic enough that I don’t have time to consider whether I like my work or not. And if I don’t like it, I haven’t wasted a whole day of my life. Here is my first attempt. Do not expect it to flow well or make any kind of puny human sense.
