Despite my worst fears, the news from the USA is surprisingly good this morning. The Democrats have regained control of the House, and are only one seat away from taking the Senate - Virginia is currently being recounted. They have their first Muslim in Congress, and first female Speaker. Rumsfeld has already resigned, and Bush is talking as if it was his idea.
Most hopeful of all, after an extremely dirty campaign and a system wide open to abuse, there seem to be very few reports of vote tampering. It’s possible that more will come out over the next few days, but so far it looks like Americans resisted the urge to press the yellow button for another vote.
