I’m sure I’m being more careful than is strictly necessary here, as I am not now, nor have I ever been, a member of any political party. But for the time being I shall be erring on the side of not mentioning politics here, lest I be seen to be actively engaged in furthering the interests of any candidate, political party or political issue. Because I shall be approaching with detached professionalism my newly allotted role in the apparatus of civic society.
I believe, however, that I shall not be straying too far outside permissible bounds of decorum if I volunteer that I shall be playing a small part in the running of an important event on the 17th of September, in a certain South Pacific Nation. A degree of voting may or may not be involved, and one of the officers issuing said votes may or may not be me. Or someone who looks like me. I’ve said too much.
I shall decline for the present to indicate exactly which polling station I shall be working for, because I could easily imagine a situation where someone might exploit such information to offer me a bribe to let them commit an egregious crime like skipping to the front of the queue, or entering a polling booth while carrying a beverage.
Anyway, have fun talking about the election in your messaging boards and online talk-a-trons. I’ll ask at the training day whether I’m allowed to write a bit about the process afterwards, when the voting papers have all been safely locked away.
Hahahahahahaha. Very entertaining!!!
Ooops!! I put my previous message on the wrong post.
